Home Remedies for Gastritis

Gastritis is nothing but the inflammation of the inner lining of the stomach wall. This inflammation might sometimes be chronic too. The signs of gastritis can be many but most often loss of appetite, vomiting, giddiness; nausea, headache etc. are seen as reasons for gastritis. Apart from this there are complaints of foul breath; there is a remarkable increase in the saliva, uneasiness, depression, scanty urination etc. Chronic cases of gastritis complaint of heartburns, constipation, diarrhea which is seen due to intestinal catarrh.

The causes of gastritis is due habituated overeating, alcohol, excess of tea, coffee, eating poorly cooked food etc. worries, anxiety, prolonged tension, grief, strong acids, certain drugs are also known to cause gastritis.

Mentioned below are certain home remedies which have proved not only effective but have helped resolving the problem of gastritis.

Increase the intake of water, fresh fruit juices, lemon juice with a pinch of salt has proved to give you instant relief. Coconut water is very useful in treating gastritis as it provides the required vitamins and minerals to cushion the stomach wall to regain its normalcy. Rice gruel is also helpful in treating acute cases of gastritis and one cup of this rice gruel taken twice a day is helpful.

Chewing of fresh ginger piece with a pinch of salt added before your meals helps not only get rid of gastritis but also helps stimulate the proper digestion of food. Drinking half a cup of potato juice 3-4 times a day with a gap of half an hour before meals helps solve gastritis. Marigold is useful in treating gastritis and the infusion of this herb in dosage of 1 tabs 2-3 times a day is a simple but an effective home remedy to treat gastritis.

Ajwain with a pinch of rock salt is also useful in treating gastritis. A diet of fruits for 3-4 days helps sooth the stomach lining. Restricting use of alcohol, spices, red pepper, pickles, tea, coffee, meat, aerated drinks is also useful in treating gastritis. Junk foods, foods high in oil contents and sugar are also known to not only increase inflammation leading to acute gastritis but also aggravate the problem of gastritis. Increase the intake of curds and cottage cheese in your meals. Have your meals at least 2 hours before you retire for the night. Buttermilk is also helpful in relieving the problem of gastritis.

A well balanced nutritional diet is recommended; enema using warm water for a week is helpful in cleansing and regulating the bowel movements, avoids physical as well as mental exertion and stress. Application of hot water compresses twice a day on empty stomach or two hours after every meal is also useful in treating gastritis. To start off with you should go in for some light exercises like warm up exercises, swimming; breathing exercises is also useful in treating gastritis.

Aloe Vera juice is also useful in treating gastritis, drinking a teaspoon full of aloe juice on empty stomach helps regulate the bowel movement and helps sooth the inner lining of the stomach wall.
