Aromatherapy Recipes

Alternative mode of treating using essential oils that are derived from natural herbs, plants and flowers which help cure the body of many ailments and provide the much required peace is termed as aromatherapy. These essential oils can be used in various ways: it can be inhaled through vapor, used in warm water baths and can be applied on the body in the form of gentle massages. These oils are pure and concentrated thus they have extremely volatile qualities and should not be used directly; they need to be mixed with other oils before use. These essential natural oils have a strong aroma which is the characteristic of these oils and are known to help in treating various ailments. Being volatile by nature they need to be used with proper care as they can cause side effects.

Certain recipes for aromatherapy oils

There are nearly 300 odd essential oils and these have their own combination of recipes to help bring the much required balance to the body. The most commonly used oil to bring about the balance level in the body are lavender oil, geranium oil, Melissa oil, lemongrass oil, rosemary wood oil etc. These oils are known to have a pleasing aroma and help the body, soul and mind sooth. Various aromatherapy recipes are made to help you get the maximum benefit as these produce a scent that not only mesmerizes you but also relaxes your mind instantly.

These oils when mixed in water gives you a soothing and relaxing feeling and provides your mind with the much need comfort. Clary sage oil and Ylang Ylang oils are known as stress buster oils and help maintain a good health free from body ailments. They also help maintain the proper circulation of the blood and when massaged on the scalp they not only release all the stress and tensions they also rejuvenate you.

A mixture of lavender oil with tea-tree oil and helichrysum oil mixed with bee wax and coconut oil is known to help relieve problems of cold, cough, flu and sore throat. This recipe is known as Healing Salve recipe. This mixture combination not only helps relieve you of your breathing problems but also helps moisturize your skin and lips. Lavender oil is known to repair body tissues and tea tree oil help to stimulate the production of the white blood cells in the body and also helps to strengthen the body’s immune system. Helichrysum has anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties thus preventing the swelling of the ankles, feet, hands and face.

There are various healing properties of these aromatic oils: Cold and cough can cause headaches apart from that even stress can cause headaches which is known to disturb your day to day routine. The use of these essential oils when massaged gently on the scalp is absorbed into the nervous system and not only reduces the pain but also prevents further attacks of headaches.

A combination of Lavender oil and Roman chamomile oil helps relax and calm your mind. A mixture of lavender oil and peppermint oil when applied to the joints and muscles prevents muscular pain. A mixture of olive oil mixed with bee wax and vitamin E oil can be a good lip balm.
