Home Remedies for Yeast Infection

Women all over the world suffer from yeast infection. This infection basically occurs in the vagina making you feel uneasy and uncomfortable. This infection is due to the growth of candida fungus. As such the vagina secretes enough acid to keep this fungus level within the control limit but the increase in number of this candida fungus decreases the secretion of the acid in the vagina thus leading to yeast infection. Yeast infection is more commonly seen during the monthly menstrual cycle. This infection can also be seen in case of pregnancy when the flow of this acid is low.

It is also seen in diabetic patients and in those who have a history of prolonged use of contraceptive pills or birth control pills. There are home remedies to treat yeast infection and these home remedies are beneficial if followed properly. Dipping a tampon in fresh yogurt as this contains lactobacillus acidophilus which when inserted in the vagina clears up the infection; this should be done twice in a day until your problem is solved.

A peel of fresh garlic clove wrapped in a cheesecloth and tied to an un-waxed dental floss and inserted in the vagina leaving it for several hours and pulled out later helps relieve your problem, this should be repeated until the symptom disappears. Lubricating a tampon with a few drops of tea tree oil and inserted in the vagina also gives you relief. Douching the vagina with a mixture of garlic clove and apple cider vinegar in two glasses of water which has been left overnight is also effective in treating yeast infection.

A capsule made of boric acid inserted in the vagina at night time is also beneficial, though in some cases women complain of burning sensation or discomfort. Potassium sorbate dissolved in a glass of water and dipped in a tampon and left in the vagina until the solution is absorbed also helps get you rid of your infection. Sitting in a bathtub filled with water containing a mixture of apple cider vinegar for 15-20 minutes and wiping the vagina dry with a clean towel is also beneficial.

Increase the intake of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C as this also helps cure the infection, wearing clothes that fit loosely and are comfortable helps soak up the vaginal discharge and keeps the vagina dry thus prevents the growth of candida fungus. You should also change your undergarments frequently and keep your vagina dry and clean. Avoid soaps that have perfume or deodorants washing your undergarments with a mild soap using lukewarm water.

Wear loose clothes at night and keep your vagina dry and free of any garments letting in the proper circulation of air thus preventing the flourish of candida fungus. Maintaining a proper vaginal hygiene is important to prevent the formation of yeast infection thus leaving you in an uneasy and uncomfortable position. In case of severe infection getting yourself checked and treated by a qualified doctor is recommended.
