Home Remedies for Skin Allergies

Skin Allergies mean a body which is sensitive to substance which otherwise a normal skin does not get affected. Skin allergies are also due to the use of cosmetics which the skin reacts when it comes in contact with certain substances often referred as allergens causing itching and redness of the skin. These substances cause inflammation of the skin giving a burning sensation to the affected area.

There are different types of skin allergies. Urticaria causes momentary swelling as there is a collection of fluid in the affected area causing a hive like appearance. Prickly heat is due to dry and warm weather consequently causing red rashes and itching due to small boils on the skin. Skin allergies may be due to change in the atmospheric temperature, certain foods, drugs, plants and flower pollens, detergents, dust and smoke.

There are several home remedies to treat skin allergies and mentioned below are a few time tested home remedies to help treat skin allergies.

Washing your hands and face as often as possible with lukewarm water in winters and cold water in summers. Use a clean towel to wipe your face and body. It has been found that application of sandalwood paste mixed in a tablespoon of lemon juice on the affected area gives instant soothing effect.

A mixture of rosewater and lime juice in equal amount if applied on the face and left for ½ an hour and washed off is also helpful in reducing the redness and itching sensation. A paste of poppy seeds with water and lemon juice is also a good remedial applicator. Adding around 8-10 drops of rose oil to ¼ cup of vodka is also useful in reducing the itchiness. A paste made from sandalwood powder and rose water is also a useful remedy, the face should be washed off after ½ an hour.

Green leafy vegetables are a rich source of minerals and vitamins that are essential to nourish the skin and eating these leafy vegetables regularly helps nourish your skin and brings about a natural glow to the skin. Amla is a rich source of vitamin c which is also useful for bringing glow on the skin and eating this is beneficial. Apart from this fruits like plums, oranges, grapes, apples, melon are all good for the skin. Fruits rich in vitamin c also benefits the skin so making it a habit to eat these are all beneficial for bringing about the glow on your skin avoiding skin allergies. Avoid changing cosmetics as certain cosmetics may not suit your skin type thus leaving you with skin allergies to suffer from.

Application of coconut oil and lime juice is also beneficial so also is applying mashed papaya seeds on the affected area. Drinking water containing mint leaves 2-3 times a day also benefits in reducing skin allergies. Reduce the intake of alcohol, caffeine etc. as this is known to cause skin allergies. Application of ice cubes on the affected area helps sooth the skin rashes.
