Home Remedies for Injury

A small cut or a small wound or burn does not necessarily mean that you rush to your doctor. There is always a scope of using home remedies instead of using alternative allopathic medication to treat your small burns or wounds. The ingredients that go into the making of these home remedies are totally natural ingredients that will not only heal your wounds almost immediately but will also give a soothing effect on the bruised area.

The most important thing that you need to take into consideration is that there is always a chance of bacterial infection on these open cuts and wounds and to get rid of these bacterial infections through body’s natural defenses. The first thing you need to do is to wash these wounds gently using a mild soap and remove the dirt and pat it dry. Honey is a natural antibacterial remedy and acts as a good ointment. Dab a thin coat of honey on the wounded area; keep the area exposed to air to help speed up the crust formation on the wound. You also need to meet your doctor in case the wound is more than quarter inch, the wound is gaping or the wound is on the face. If the wound is due to a rusted metal then you need to get a shot of tetanus injection immediately or within 48 hours of the injury.

Paper cuts can be irritating and the best remedy is to rub Chap Stick on the cuts, in case of bleeding you need to wrap the wound with a clean towel or use a bandage and apply pressure on it to stop the bleeding. Tea bags are also useful in stopping the bleeding all you need to do is to immerse this tea bag in cold water until it is completely saturated, with only half the water place this tea bad on the wound or cut applying mild pressure for 10-15 minutes, you need to do this a few times or until the bleeding has completely stopped. In case the bleeding is severe then you need to apply pressure on the closet point of the cut also.

Turmeric is used as an antiseptic powder, apply turmeric powder to the wound or cut and tie a bandage over it to prevent bacterial infection. Iodine is also used as an antiseptic to wash small wounds, cuts and bruises. Garlic is another antiseptic used frequently to cleanse wounds; garlic juice added in a ratio of 1:3 to distilled water is used as a lotion to clean infected cuts and wounds.

Burn injuries can be treated by pouring water which is at room temperature; this helps form blisters which is essential for the natural process of healing. Tomato slices rubbed lightly on the burn injury helps relieve you of the pain but will prevent the formation of blister on the burnt area, cold water with vinegar can also be used as a compressor and later a potato slice can be applied over it.
